Here is a Stereoscopic VR video shot using this method. If you use the YouTube app and cardboard etc. on your smartphone, it will be a VR display with a stereoscopic view of the front. When browsing on the Youtube app,Long press the title of the video to open it on “YouTube”Please take a look at it from
*In the standard state, the resolution is set to small, so if you press the three-dot icon in the upper right corner and manually set the image quality to 2160s, the display will be displayed in 4K. Press the cardboard icon to start VR display. The size is large, so I recommend browsing in a WiFi environment.
I will introduce an example of creating a stereo VR video with parallax that only has a forward field of view, but can be viewed stereoscopically.
What I used this time was Entaniya's product2Cam 250 complete set Z250K(Equivalent)
Originally, this product is a back-to-back shooting product that is used back-to-back, but it is possible to shoot in stereo by removing it and placing it at a location equivalent to the right eye and left eye. Also, since a range of 250 degrees can be photographed, VR display that can be viewed to some extent is possible.
The distance between human eyes is called interpupillary distance (IPD: interpupillary distance), and this time this distance was set to approximately 63 mm. Set the IPD to about 63 mm and attach it to a head where two cameras can be fixed.
Once it is mounted so that it is as parallel as possible, I will shoot a video. The GoPro recording settings select 4k 30 (29.97) frames. Start shooting by pressing the left and right GoPro recording buttons at the same time. In the first part of the shooting, I will include a clap sound to synchronize the left and right sides along with the movement of my hands. When shooting is finished, press the left and right GoPro recording buttons again to finish shooting.
Once the shooting is complete, the left and right GoPro videos are developed into an equivalent rectangular format with AutoPano, a software that can expand panoramas, respectively. Since the field of view is only 250 degrees, the display is black when out of range. Expand so that the left and right sides look as similar as possible.
By arranging the left and right videos on the top and bottom or side by side, respectively, it becomes a stereo video that can be viewed in three dimensions. This time, I'll create it with Top and Bottom.
Create a new project with the video editing software Premiere and import the left and right videos. Set the scale (height) of the effect control for each video to 50.0 and halve the vertical size. Similarly, change the position from (2048.0, 1024.0) to L (2048,512) and R to (2048,1536) with the effect control and arrange them so that they line up one on the other.
*Since it was created with H.264 (level 5.1) this time, 4096 x 2048 seems to be the maximum according to specifications, and it is arranged like this instead of 4Kx4K.
While watching the clap sound you put in at the beginning and the movement of your hand, adjust the positions of the left camera and the video timeline of the right camera.
↓
The right camera is shown from the left camera, and the left camera is shown from the right camera, and this part is greatly broken and difficult to see, so I create a mask and place it on the top layer.
The sound is mono, but it is duplicated and recorded as an L/R track. The R side of the L camera's sound and the L side of the R camera are silenced in the audio editing software Audition, and the microphones of each camera are used on the left and right to create stereo sound. If there is a big difference in volume at this time, adjust the volume by adjusting the gain.
Although it is 4K, the bitrate is raised and exported as a maximum of 50 Mbps in order to be viewed in an expanded format.
To view the completed video on Oculus Rift's Video Player, Gear VR, etc., put _TB_360 between the file name and extension.
If you upload to YouTube and view it,Spatial Media Metadata Injector.exeCheck spherical (360) and stereoscopic 3D (top/bottom layout), enter metadata, and then upload.
If the position and distortion of the left and right videos are too misaligned, stereoscopic viewing will not be possible. If there is a large sense of incongruity with the way it looks, export the still image to Photoshop, compare the image above and the image below, readjust the expansion in AutoPano, and readjust the position and angle of the L and R videos on Premiere. Since it was roughly placed on the head of the head this time, it is quite misaligned, but if you make a rig where the left and right cameras are parallel and difficult to shift, it will be easier to adjust after.
