How to use Gear 360

2016
7

On 2016/7/15, Samsung launched the “Gear 360,” which can shoot 360-degree videos, as a Galaxy brand. On this page, we'll show you how to shoot 360-degree videos with the Gear 360 and import the captured images to a computer.

Shooting with the Gear360 console

Insert the microSD and battery into the main unit, then press and hold the power button below the attached image.

Shooting modes can be switched with the MENU button. The mode is displayed with an LED on the top of the Gear360 main unit, and you can check it. Use the OK button at the top of the Gear360 to start/stop recording and take photos.

Mode types

  • recording mode
  • photo mode
  • time-lapse mode
  • Video loop mode
  • settings

Shooting after linking to the app

Gear360 can be linked to a Galaxy smartphone for live viewing, viewing, and sharing.

Gear360 and Galaxy connection

Turn on the Gear360 and press and hold the menu button to enter pairing mode.

After installing an app called Gear 360 Manager on your Galaxy, start the app and turn on Bluetooth. Then click “Connect to GEAR 360.”

Gear360 will be searched via Bluetoorh, so follow the instructions on the screen to complete the connection.

Recording/Photography/Viewing

You can use Live View by tapping the button at the bottom right of the screen.

The images you take are saved in the Gear360 category, so you can view and share them from there.

How to stitch and browse on a PC

360-degree videos and still images taken with Gear360 can also be imported to a PC and stitched. If stitching (image merging) is performed in the Galaxy app, the resolution will drop. Therefore, in order to maintain the resolution as it was at the time of shooting, stitching is performed by working on a computer.

Installing the Stitch-only Windows App

In order to perform stitching on a PC, it is necessary to use Gear360's Windows-only application.Gear 360 homepageInstall “Gear 360 ActionDirector” from After installation, launch the Gear 360 ActionDirector and select “360 VR Video.”

To import video files from Gear 360, connect a USB cable to a computer and transfer.

Stitch imported videos/photos

When an imported video file is dragged onto the window, it is entered into the library and stitching is performed automatically.

Drag content from the library to the timeline below. Select “File” at the top and select “Output.”

Set any settings and press “Start” to start the output. Once the output is finished, you can see that there are stitched video files in the selected folder.

Lastly

There is a point where the Gear 360 can only be linked to the Galaxy, but the resolution and lightness of the main unit that can capture 4K videos are appealing only to the Gear 360. Also, it's a very simple and easy to use device that's suitable as an easy way to shoot 360-degree videos.
